In this article we meet Michael Hopkinson from Hopkinson Painting.
Michael Hopkinson loves to paint. After learning his trade at the Geraldton Building Company, Michael started Hopkinson Painting in 1995 and the rest, as they say, is history.
“It began from a love of painting, quality painting. I wanted people to have the best possible experience when it came to employing a painter. I wanted people to see their homes transformed into a beautiful place to live”
From the Geraldton Dome Cafe to hundreds of domestic residences, Hopkinson Painting has done it all and like most business owners Michael has had his fair share of struggles to overcome. His largest was learning how to operate a business, which he sees as a constant journey from which his is learning from every day. He says that one of the best investments the company ever made was employing their first business coach.
As for living and working in Geraldton? Michael adores it.
“I love the weather and I love seeing the change that happens here. We can go to Perth for a weekend and when we return I always see something new in town. I hear people say “nothing much happens or changes around here” although I always see a change and I always know when a home, business or building has had a fresh coat of paint. I’m sure it drives my beautiful wife Anne Maree crazy when I point out something that has a fresh coat of new paint!”
Not only is Micheal proud of how far Hopkinson Painting has grown and of his amazing team of painters but he also incredibly proud of his family.
“I was painting our 3 year old daughters bed and I heard her tell her older brother that her dad was the best painter in the world and he said “and he is famous too”.
