CoderDojo is a facilitated program fueling young people’s passion for coding and better understanding the technology that shapes their world.
Pollinators is partnering with Scinapse (Mid West Science Engagement Group) and Geraldton Grammar School to run a CoderDojo program in Term 4 of 2017. Every Tuesday starting 17th October, the ‘Dojo’ will be open from 4-5:30pm at Geraldton Grammar School.
There are Dojos in over 51 countries that meet meet regularly to learn skills and work on projects like websites, apps, games and more. There is a focus on community, peer learning, mentorship and self-directed learning. CoderDojo makes development and learning to code a fun, sociable, rewarding experience. The one rule for Ninjas is ‘Above All, Be Cool‘, guiding behaviour. Champions, Mentors and volunteers work together to create a safe and inclusive space for young people.
For Parents and non-technical volunteers:
The D&T computing labs at Geraldton Grammar have dozens of PCs all ready for participants to use.
If you want to bring your own laptop, you are free to do so. All the software / tools used are online or cloud-based.
Kids are encouraged to bring a drink bottle and a snack if needed.
Geraldton Grammar School is at 134 George road, Geraldton.
